HBO’s Game of Thrones is one of the network’s most popular scripted television shows. With the release of season four, HBO wanted to expand its audience to multicultural consumers and increase ratings.
10 Squared was engaged to execute a targeted marketing campaign and mix-tape, titled Catch the Throne. Our role in the campaign was to manage influencer engagement and media relations for the campaign. We secured hip hop artist Big Boi as the campaign’s celebrity super-fan, provided talking points and social media messaging for the campaign, manage red carpet, press and influencer outreach for two (2) activations (Park City, Utah and New Orleans, LA), and negotiated contract terms for Big Boi’s participation in the Catch the Throne mix-tape. The result was a record-breaking success with over 6.6 million viewers watching the premiere, representing an increase of 52% over the prior season.
